Let it snow:)

let it snow

Today we are starting our December activities:)

First days of winter just passed and now it’s time to get cozy under a blanket with your book and a hot tea:)

We love the smell of Christmas. We love those mornings when we wake up and see everything covered in snow. We spend time reading and love every minute of that time when it’s just us and the book. That’s why we love winter:)

This month, we invite you to our special meetings in Herbaciarnia Laja and in Klub Dziupla.

5.12 – We have our first meeting with the Book Club in Laja, where we will share our thoughts on “Norwegian Wood” by Haruki Murakami. Afterwards, we will watch a special screening:)
The meeting starts at 19:00.

10.12 – Our Reading Club is meeting in Dziupla. More questions and open conversations, reading articles/short stories are waiting so drop by and see what’s it all about.
The meeting starts at 19:00.

13.12 – What else can you do on a Friday than meet with your friends and play some games? Good old Scrable, Dixit, logic games should do the trick:)
The meetings starts at 19:00 in Herbaciarnia Laja.

19.12 – Christmas is getting closer:D If you are still looking for that special gift, how about coming to Laja for a special edition of bookbinding? Beautiful materials and colors are waiting to be turned into the perfect notebook for that special friend:)
The meeting starts at 19:00.

See you soon:)
Bring your friends and spread the love:D

Book lovers interviews

book lovers

Today we will have our first interviews in Trinec, at the Nights of Talents. It will be an Open Mic session where young writers, poets, musicians from our region will be showing their work and talent.

We will have three questions for each, plus a surprise question:)

The interviews will be published online next week. At the end of the project, we will make a handmade magazine that will be available in March in Herbaciarnia Laja.

Book Club – Norwegian Wood

We finally decided to make a book club, hoping that people will find pleasure in reading and sharing their point of view (what they liked, what they didn’t understand).

Asking among the people that stop at the library and that are directly involved in the project, we saw that we should give it a try and see how it goes:)

The concept is that we will meet once a month to discuss about the book and different screenings made after the book. The people can read the book either in English or in their native language, which will bring a definite plus as we can notice some differences between the translations.

The meetings will be in the first Thursday of each month (except for 2nd of January) in Herbaciarnia Laja. Our first meeting is on 5th of December and we will talk about “Norwegian Wood” by Haruki Murakami.

Buy Nothing Day

At the end of November we will get together in Herbaciarnia Laja and spend the evening in a cozy atmosphere.

Nowadays there is this trend of consumerism, powered by commercials and society that build up a mentality of must have. Either food, clothes, accessories, appliances are in most homes just because at some moment we thought me must have it. Over wrapped food and the forever plastic bags are filling the trash bins and ending up in landfills.

What if we would buy less packaged food and bring our own bag? Our own bag made from newspaper. This way you re-use and creatively recycle the paper and cross out the plastic bag.

At 18:00 we will start with the creative recycling workshop that everyone can attend. All we need is your newspaper and we will bring the glue. You can bring your kids and friends as the workshop will be an easy and relaxing activity.

As soon as we have enough bags, we turn off the lights and watch a documentary that caught our attention long ago. The film is about the biggest landfill in the world and about the people that build their lives around it. How they live there, work there. The story is told by an artist that turns their way of living into art and gives them the opportunity to experience something else. A touching documentary that will for sure help everyone understand that every little thing we do has an impact.

To make the evening complete, we welcome you with homemade muffins:)

Reading. Talking. Writing:)

Last week we had a really nice meeting up on the Castle Hill. We had our own mobile bookcase hanging from a bird house:) We had colorful blankets, books and postcards:)

reading session

People came from different small cities of Poland just to spend two hours reading outside in the nature. That told us a lot about how people want to feel reconnected to nature, to breath in and out and relax reading great adventures:)

We met a young man, with great travel stories, working currently in Cieszyn as an English teacher. Here you see how creative learning a new language can be. Remember,youlooknicetoday_header_winter4

We believe that we could slow down from time to time, read or write letters to loved ones. Sure, e-mails are faster, but there is for sure a greater pleasure when you open you mail box and see an envelope or a postcard:) So we wrote postcards and will keep on writing them at every meeting we have:)
